Bright Bundles

Bring me the cornucopia

my garden yields!

Saturated colors placed

upon a garish picnic napkin

scream at the too tender sky

to brighten up and live a little!

Going to seed

or splitting at the seams,

bright bundles buddy up,

drinking in the tawdry light

of late autumn afternoons.

Intoxicated, their drunken joy

in living to the max

is infectious, giving those

with less imagination

the surprise discovery

that even when plucked

and rootless, life goes on

fanning its bright plumes

heedless of tomorrows.
